Con Son Town, Con Son Island, Con Dao Archipelago, Vietnam – February 23, 2011: Phu Hai Prison – one of several prisons on Con Son Island which together comprised a former French colonial penal colony. The prisons were also used to contain political prisoners during the Vietnam War. Many Vietnamese nationalist and revolutionary notables were imprisoned here some of them confined in ‘tiger cages.’ The prison is now disused and a visitor attraction.
